Team Project Using Concurrent Engineering Approach
You, will in a small group of 3 to 4, develop a product
proposal involving a product and manufacturing technologies
required to design and document it. Each team will design a
different and approved product. The project is expected to
include product design, documentation, process planning,
process routing, marketing information, product cost
estimation, database management, tool design, facility layout,
written and oral presentations. Student will obtain written
approval for their topics and the proposal must be completed
for presentation on the due date.
Product Design:
A product approved by the instructor must be designed by every
team. Team members must agree on the product before bringing
it to the instructor for approval. Before coming to the
instructor, each student should determine and sketch their
parts on a sheet of paper. Each part must undergo at least two
different processes. After instructor's approval, every one of
these parts must be designed on a CAD or manual system using
the lab and employing concurrent engineering approach. Product
documentation should include the student's name, all
individual parts, the assembled product, a bill of materials,
dimensioned drawings with title block, and geometric drawings.

Suggested
Steps:
*Identify products and get instructor's approval
*Design a project schedule
*Design product parts and perform associated analysis
*Design ideal database or website
*Perform assigned tasks
*Update database
*Generate a bill of material
*Provide marketing information
*Do process planning and associated analysis
*Design and construct necessary tooling
*Do product cost estimation
*Calculate answers to process planning questions
*Perform simulations if needed
*Write report and attach other materials
*Do oral presentation and submit report
